I'm Viviana Caro; a polymath, researcher, and consultant working at the intersection of neuroscience, immersive sound, and altered states of consciousness.

My work explores how experiences can be intentionally designed, not merely facilitated, to shape perception, modulate emotion, and expand awareness. I approach altered states not as ephemeral phenomena, but as structured systems that can be composed, refined, and responsibly scaled.

Operating across immersive sound design, consciousness research, neuroaesthetics, sonic art, and ritual studies, I bring a rare interdisciplinary perspective to the field. This allows me to bridge scientific rigour with artistic sensibility, developing frameworks for experiences that are both experientially profound and methodologically grounded.

My practice integrates empirical research with an aesthetic language rooted in deep listening, minimalism, and contemporary ritual. It draws on the lineage of Pauline Oliveros, the contemplative teachings of Plum Village, and Carl Jung's concept of active imagination, recontextualised for modern, technologically mediated environments.

In parallel, I compose and perform using field recordings and modular synthesis, crafting immersive sonic environments that blend organic and synthetic textures. These works are designed to facilitate inner exploration, collective attunement, and shifts in perceptual states.

I am particularly interested in how states such as awe, absorption, deep presence, and shared emotional resonance can enhance imagination, creativity, intuition, and agency. In an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, I see these human capacities not as peripheral, but as essential.

At its core, my work is an invitation to engage with a post-materialist approach that blends spirituality, art, science, and technology into a unified framework for exploring and expanding human perception.
